How to ‘Git Gud’ at PvP Shooter Games

You are on a losing streak. You are blaming your teammates, the lag, the matchmaking – everything and everyone but yourself. The truth is that you just might not be as good at your favourite Player vs Player (PVP) shooter as you think.

1. Get out of your comfort zone.

Every player has their go-to weapon or character – maybe because it feels familiar, or it’s idiot-proof, or it is every other pro player’s pick. When you are on a cold streak, it’s time to drop that for something else, even if it is just a temporary means to get out of a rut.

2. Know your enemy.

In the same vein, using other weapons will familiarise yourself with your enemies’ weaknesses. For instance, if you are constantly getting taken out by snipers, try the sniper class and scope out the best hideouts – that is where you should be looking for them in your next game.

3. Learn from your mistakes.

Most modern consoles allow players to record video gameplay, so rewatch yourself getting annihilated and understand the how’s and why’s.
